What to expect:

I wanted to give this workshop a title that clearly lets you know what it will be about.   The morning is about being true to yourself and in order to do that you really have to know yourself first.  This is not possible to expect in one day but I can promise that you will leave with a set of principles to guide you in this process.  The challenge is to uncover who it is that you really really want to be.  Who you want to be is aligned or connected with the inner core of you.  You will learn some principles you can apply to help you be true to yourself and there will be some experiences to guide you there too.

The afternoon is really about taking charge of your life.  It is self-empowering!  Once you know who you want to be, it is important to let that be expanded upon in the heart.  You will know when you have the right focus because you will have no trouble feeling it in your body.  Once you feel the shift, you will know that it is already happening.  You don’t have to force that.  The heart moves you to action … so you can get where you want to go.  This is what intentions are all about and this is how we will spend the afternoon.  You will have the experience of creating at least one meaningful intention that will make a difference in your day if you say it with feeling.

Individual Appointments: Learn more and schedule an appointment

Perhaps energy work is new to you.  Or perhaps not.  It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with anyone who is working in your energy field.  This is why I am explaining how I would work with you. 

Remember that there are a variety of techniques for working with energy.  What is most important is trust and that the technique used suits the situation to be addressed.  Given this, it is best when the practitioner and the client are in rapport, and have established a common “intention” for the energy work.

Your first visit with me usually takes about an hour and a half.  At this time there is an opportunity for building a trusting and caring relationship, and general assessment of the situation.  It also gives you, the client, the opportunity to see if it is the right fit for you.   When we connect for that visit, I will have several questions for you to answer in the best way you can at that time.  Together we will establish a foundation for what we would do next.

With any energy work it is important to be clear on our intention for what happens. It is surprising how much of what we think about affects what happens.

I will use a hand scan as well as a pendulum to check your chakras and field. Depending on the situation, we may choose to use some colour projection and music as well as either Therapeutic Touch or Reiki. Or a bit of both. I may also suggest such things as guided visualization, some Emotional Freedom Technique or other techniques I know can be effective.   

From my experience and reading it seems that generally energy work is most effective with problems that are stress related and connected to the Autonomic Nervous System.  

I know that you can expect to feel much more relaxed with a higher sense of well being.  We have to let your body do what it needs to and is able to do best. There are no guarantees. But being in the best place energetically gives your body the best environment in which to balance and heal itself.

 I usually suggest that people schedule 4 or 5 appointments about a week or so apart depending on the assessment and our schedules. Then perhaps every 4 to 6 weeks if things are evening out. Initially I suggest you just come for one session to be sure that you feel it is the right fit for you. Then further sessions would be decided together so that it is in your best interest.

New 7-hour Intensive Program #1: Blueprint for Embracing Life with Meaning: Let’s set a date

 It is not at all unusual for people approaching or in mid life to begin to question life’s purpose.  You might be asking yourself,

“What am I doing all this for anyways?”

Or perhaps you feel that you have done well in life and feel it is time to be giving back but you don’t know how or where.

Through its many challenges, life has given me the opportunity to personally work through things in a holistic way.  I notice how I am feeling and work with my thoughts to shift to a healthier way of thinking.  And sometimes even then I can sense that there is an energy from the past that continues to influence how I handle the present.

As I work with people, I work with both thought patterns and energy to help shift perspectives and patterns.  That is likely why I am always on a learning journey.   This is a newly expanding field. 

With this in mind, I am in the process of developing 3 different Intensives to work with 1 to 3 individuals and guide their process.    It can take place on one day to serve those whose schedules or location best suit that style. 

The first intensive is now available.  This first one is based on the research I did in 1990 for my doctoral thesis and have continued to build on ever since.  In this particular one of the three options, the focus is really on how to find the sense of meaning and purpose from within yourself.    You will leave with a Blueprint for Embracing Life with Meaning.  

There are many ways people approach this whole area of life meaning and purpose and most spend a good deal of time and energy looking out there for that sense of meaning.

In this full day intensive, you will have the opportunity to go inward.  Uncovering what you didn’t know you knew about yourself is fun and inspiring.  It is embracing the new midlife.

Through some well designed activities, you will create your own personal life meaning blueprint, summarizing those things that mean most to you.  Not only with this be useful every day, it will also be useful as you explore new ventures and work at decisions related to life, work, relationships, retirement and more. 

With the basic work begun, (and you have permission to make alterations and modifications as you become aware of more) you will begin a process of learning how to use it in an action step that will start a process of living daily life with meaning.   

You may surprise yourself with what you are able to intuitively and confidently put together at this point.

Need to know more?

 

I have always been inclined to wonder about life, about people, about who I am and what is my place here in this life.  The inquisitiveness was only increased through my studies in nursing and my role as a nurse educator.  

 My experiences both with patients, and with students was showing me the connection between how a person feels, their mental attitude and the health of their body.  Perhaps that is what prompted me to give more attention to the whole workings of an individual as a way to actually prevent illness in some people.

While I was learning all about the science of disease and how the body works in sickness and in health, I knew that there is more to life than the physical workings of the body

It is almost 20 years since I completed my doctoral research on the changes people make in their lives related to what is meaningful to them.  Fascinating interviews of 20 people who experienced a workshop and set themselves up with an action plan.  My work with individuals and groups in retreats and workshops has given me even more insight into the process of making meaningful change.  It always amazes me how small steps can lead to very productive changes.  Life Reinvention does not have to look like a tornado took over your life.  You will be surprised at the calmness that comes with confidence.

To add to the effectiveness of this intensive, I am also adding two 1-hour sessions either in person or by telephone at predesignated times.   And you will be able to have email contact with me at regularly scheduled intervals over a two month period as you work with your Meaning Blueprint.

The process is intensive and can be one on one if you so choose.  Or you may prefer to do it with one or two other people.  Your choice.  You choose the people you will feel comfortable working along with in this intimate way.

Remembering the cost of one hour of therapy, you will be surprised at the reasonable investment in your well-being.  If you decide to work alone for a full 7 hour (plus 2 hours later) program, your investment at the introductory rate is only $499.00. 

Should you prefer to work at this with one other person of you choice, your investment would be $799 (divided by 2) .  That means you would each pay only $398.50.  And should you choose a third person who is agreed upon by all, the personal investment would be $999.00 divided by 3.  That means each would pay only $333.00    Oh! by the way — lunch is included in a full day program.

These very reasonable rates are introductory.   I will be creating 2 different all-day intensives that I will be offering  later this year.  .

Small Steps To a Fuller Life: 4 Thursday evenings in November

Taking charge of your life begins with a mind set.  You can actually make changes or advancements in your life by changing your thinking patterns.    Every moment is an opportunity for new possibilities.   So where do you start? 

Are you relatively new in understanding how your thoughts affect you?  Would you like to have a deeper understanding of

  • the power of your thoughts. 
  • the nature of your mind and your feelings
  • how you can make every day a little bit better
  • what it means, actually feels like, to be centred, and open 

In this 4-evening seminar you will learn about the little things in every day life that can influence how your day goes and some quick and easy ways to improve the quality of your day, living life more fully. 

You will be guided through some experiences to help you become more aware of how you can make wiser decisions.  

Understanding who we are

One of the most important things you will notice is that what you allow your mind to dwell on, really does make a difference and you are the gate keeper.   

You will leave with some customized and adaptable small steps to change or enhance your life.   This is an opportunity for you to start a process that may give you the support you need to make life more interesting and enjoyable, — more balanced.  For those approaching or in the early stages of life transitions such as retirement, or family life changes, consider this a starting point to moving forward.   If you feel life is “same old, same old”,  this may just give you the sense of direction you need to change that.
