About Marie
Hello ….. I’m Marie Knapp and I am very pleased to meet you.
My focus in life is helping others to uncover their courage in order to live with purpose and balance, to connect with others in healthy ways, to remove blocks and encumbrances to their success and healthy living, to live well with stress, and to develop and maintain a spiritual life connection.
I am an experienced mother, wife, nurse, teacher, workshop leader, and facilitator. I am a Registered Nurse, having graduated from St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and completed a BScN at the University of Western Ontario. My passion for teaching nurses held my interest for many years at Georgian College in Owen Sound, Ontario and more recently in the Ryerson University continuing education department.
In 1991, my doctoral dissertation (University of Toronto, Doctor of Education) examined how people make deliberate changes in their lives related to what is meaningful to them. This theme has permeated much of my professional life experience since that time.
Those who have experienced my workshops and retreats say, “Marie is very grounded and creates a warm and safe environment for participants in her workshops and individual sessions. Her years of experience as a Nurse Educator and as a College Director, have given her a clear understanding from a conventional perspective of the many stresses people face in their lives. Her continual development in holistic nursing approaches is an asset to helping clients find balance. She is a safe bridge between paradigms”. I have led numerous workshops and retreats related to personal and spiritual development, life meaning, and stress reduction.
I am a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and its Complementary Therapies Nurses Interest Group. I am President of the Canadian Holistic Nurses Association and currently enrolled in the second level of the Holistic Nurse Specialization Program. I am registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Like many, I have experienced life and stress in its many forms. For me, life means being a parent, spouse, teacher, learner, nurse, manager, mentor, friend and simply liver of life. Facing the challenges of these roles means learning to face the stresses they bring. It means thriving with joy.
I am delighted to have an independent practice to help people take charge of their lives holistically so they can live life more fully.
Marie
